I am looking for yummy fake meats and reasonable prices... though I have no idea what that would be in Korea. They dont have to be vegan, just meat free. Let me know what you know

E-Mart actually carries a new line of frozen stuff called Smart Eating. In the frozen area near the mandu, they have three veggie things. Soy mini-balls, Sweet and Sour Soybean, and Soy mini cutlets. In the refrigerator section, they have some little frozen hot dog sort of things. There are also a couple of restaurants that sell some stuff. The two I know of are Oh Se Gye Hyung in Insadong (http://www.go5.co.kr) and SM Chae Shik Buffet near Yangjae Station (site here: www.smvege.co.kr, map here: www.smvege.co.kr/bbs/board.php?bo_table=sm_1&wr_id=2). Hope these help!

Well, I tried it, then discovered that it wasn't vegan The Sweet and Sour Tofu was really good, the soy mini cutlets are good but really need to be pan-fried in a lot of vegetable oil, and the soy min-balls didn't make me fall in love with them, but I'd say they're still worth trying. I haven't tried the soy mini-hot dog things, because I learned where they were as I learned that they weren't vegan, but a vegetarian friend tells me that they're quite nice. The Sweet and Sour is the quickest and easiest meal, in my opinion. The cutlets aren't quite a full meal by themselves, but they're more versatile. The soy mini balls seem to have the most potential, but I couldn't really figure out what to do with them.

hi there, i've never ordered from this place because honestly the idea of fake meat doesn't appeal to me, but it might be worth a try for someone who is interested... www.vegefood.co.kr
